WHAT DO THEY SAY? "THE MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE" the well-known slogan of the United Negro College Fund has always made me think and ask questions.
Exploration of the workings of something not located in the anatomy of the body "the mind" really can't be wasted. So the correctness of the slogan would be "the understanding of the brain or the consciousness awareness of thoughts is a terrible thing to waste" But in reality, there is no waste all discovery and understanding to each question there is an answer. The problems come in the seeking the answers and asking the right questions. The perceptions vary with each person inquiries to their question. The mind is the question and the answers are about a wasting of something that is an illusion. So why would this be the slogan when it comes to the waste of nothing that doesn't exist? I guess it was to make people think and draw attention to their organization and to get donations. And for many years I thought the mind could be wasted and really didn't ask myself how that could happen.I certainly didn't want to waste anything that God gave me.Well, enough of that let's talk about the mind and where it could be or what it might be. We do have to ask questions and form some kind of an opinion about our wanderings, don't we? When something happens to us we usually say,"why is this happening to me?"This question is asked more than any other question on our spiritual journey. Is there an answer to the "Why me?"question that we have got an answer to that completely satisfies us? In most situations, we still ask even though we know why. We just like to check up with our inner true self to prove that we are not losing our mind. That's funny isn't it if we don't have a mind.So we are checking and reasoning with the logical brain and the questions are coming from our creativity right brain. We are having a brain to brain conversations in our own brain. The mind is outside of this whole thought process in the brain. So how can we waste or control the mind?We can't so we asking the mind of God or the Christ consciousness or the mind of the thinker.Who is the thinker? Well, the brain is thinking and the self is listening to the thinker inside the thoughts being formed.Don't you just love the questions you think about and sometimes you don't need answers you just think them. The child inside is full of questions that have never been answered and the adult in uses the questions to create ideas and fantasy. The inner world is more interesting than the outer world reasons for the "Why me."The designer of all Creator God is the answer to the Why's and what's and where's and the Who you are.It is never any waste to seek the mind and thought of God even though many say we can't know His thoughts.I ask many questions to the Holy Spirit and I do get answers. The answers are in the spirit of the words in the Bible. When the Bible is read in the spirit.
This morning on my morning dog walk I passed a church sign that said"The wrong question gives the right answer" I had to stop and think about the wrong question and try to figure out what the pastor was going to preach about in his church on Sunday. My first thoughts were there are no wrong questions and how could there be a right answer to a wrong question. I think the reason God put that sign up for people to see something to think about. The world is always causing confusions and that preacher is drawing in the world to his church.Just like that slogan, "the mind is a terrible thing to waste" even though the mind is not real but spiritual by nature of its unseen properties. So ask and seek and question and get answers as they come to you in the moment of each experience. Remember not everything that happens to you is a "Why me" moment it could be God winking.
